Varanasi BLW built 1000th electric locomotive WAG9HC “Sahastra” dedicated to the nation

Varanasi The General Manager, Anjali Goyal, in a simple function organized at New Loco Test Shop on 22nd January 2022, ensured the compliance of Covid rules, the 1000th electric locomotive WAG9HC “SAHASTRA” manufactured by Banaras Locomotive Works, BLW Senior officers, cooperation in the progress of production dedicated to the service of the nation by dutifully flagging off with dutiful worship along with men & women employees. Due to which there was a wave of happiness and enthusiasm among the employees of BLW and they were welcomed with loud clapping.

On this occasion, the General Manager appreciated all the officers and employees of BLW for their excellent performance and congratulated them all. Prior to this, the General Manager did a through inspection of the said locos and gave directions to the concerned officers for further improvement in quality, workmanship, safety, security, housekeeping. He said that as a result of hard work and dedication of the officers and employees of BLW, in the financial year 2021-22, despite the transition of Covid-19, a new record has been set by manufacturing 281 electric locomotives.

This production in BLW is the highest in terms of working days in any financial year. It may be noted that story of creation of electric locomotive manufacturing in BLW started with 2 electric locomotives in the year 2016-17, which was 25 in the year 2017-18, 145 in the year 2018-19, 272 in the year 2019-20, by manufacturing 275 in 2020-21 till 22 January 2022, 281 electric locomotives have been manufactured and have broken all the previous records. It may be mentioned that the above 6000 HP WAG9HC electric loco number 41379 is being sent to Khanalampura Marshalling Yard of Northern Railway.

Women employees Manju Yadav, Gitanjali Mishra, Anita Devi, Basanti Devi, Priyanka Swaroop, Priti Wahi and men workers Amarnath Yadav, Suresh Sharma expressed their gratitude to the General Manager and enjoyed the occasion. Principal Chief Electrical Engineer Shri. Rajesh Kumar Rai, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer Shri Amitabh, Principal Financial Adviser Shri Yogesh Kumar Srivastava, Principal Chief Personnel Officer Shri Pradeep Kumar Singh, Principal Chief Security Commissioner Shri Ranveer Singh Chouhan, Principal Chief Engineer Shri Santosh Shukla, Principal Chief Medical Officer Dr. Devesh Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Pramod Kumar Choudhary, Senior Deputy General Manager Shri Vijay were present.
